Birthplace of the Coca-Cola Bottle, Terre Haute, IN

Some of the most famous things in the world have to have been created somewhere. So, what is Terre Haute, IN famous for? The birthplace of the Coca-Cola bottle!

In the year 1915, the Coca Cola Company sent out a challenge across the US to design a distinct bottle to house their product. The Root Glass Company in Terre Haute, IN had the winning design thus making their city the birthplace. We found the location of the Root Glass Company. Just a marker here now.

If you want to have some fun throughout Terre Haute, visit the The Coke Bottle Sculpture Project. The 6-foot-tall Coke Bottle sculptures throughout the city show how proud this area is of what they brought to the world. The sculpture is part of the Root Family Public Art Project. I found this example of one of  their bottle sculptures online.

Print a map of the bottles here and have some fun with the family! https://www.thehaute.org/birthplace-of-the-coca-cola-bottle

Don't forget to check out the fun mural located in town!

Curiousity continues....
