Welcome! Our family has been pulling over and discovering anything and everything for as long as I can remember. Greg and I are hitting 25 years of marriage here soon and we constantly have people asking about our travels...hence, the beginning of a new blog! Giant Chair...Richmond, IN

A giant chair? Well...I just have to see this!  Located in Richmond, IN, this very welcoming piece to "sit a spell" is just outside the door of Richmond Furniture Gallery. Unfortunately, you are not able to actually sit in it (boo), but it is very cool to see and you do walk under it to enter.  We heard that the Depot District, located in this area is a lovely place to walk through and has amazing town murals, but it was raining when we visited so I chose to jump out and grab this pic and save the rest for another time when we have nice weather.  If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop by 180 Fort Wayne Ave and have a look. It's FREE has a nice store to browse through as well  :)  Curiosity continues... ~~Dede~~

Muskingum County WWII/Memorial....Pile of War Helmets

Has anything just really brought to light a tragedy that you were no where near (at least those my age weren't) but you could really feel the pain of those involved? The Muskingum County WWII/Memorial in Zanesville, OH did this to me. From the moment I walked up to it, though on the side of the courthouse in town where many cars travel by, I could hear nothing, but quiet.... This monument is an appreciative nod to 297 Muskingum County servicemen killed in WWII and the Korean War, represented by a pile of individually named helmets. The sculpture, including 3 soldier figures was sculpted by Alan Cottrill and installed in 2012. Each helmet is inscribed with the name of each fallen soldier. The 3 full size soldiers standing nearby represent very strong emotions. Believe me when I say, you can feel every emotion just by looking at this amazing monument.  The sculpture pieces take up a nice size piece of lawn which is so nice to be able to respectfully check out every inch of...

Birthplace of the Coca-Cola Bottle, Terre Haute, IN

Some of the most famous things in the world have to have been created somewhere. So, what is Terre Haute, IN famous for? The birthplace of the Coca-Cola bottle!  In the year 1915, the Coca Cola Company sent out a challenge across the US to design a distinct bottle to house their product. The Root Glass Company in Terre Haute, IN had the winning design thus making their city the birthplace. We found the location of the Root Glass Company. Just a marker here now.  If you want to have some fun throughout Terre Haute, visit the The Coke Bottle Sculpture Project. The 6-foot-tall Coke Bottle sculptures throughout the city show how proud this area is of what they brought to the world. The sculpture is part of the Root Family Public Art Project.
